Weightlifting 101 operates on the premise that the barbell requirements in Crossfit are altogether different from Olympic weightlifting. We aim to present a comprehensive, logical, and elegant system of weightlifting for Crossfitters.
The Weightlifting 101 system represents what we consider to be the best style of lifting for the general population. We have built our signature approach by selecting the best components from many different sources and with the following principles in mind:
the style should be effective, i.e., it should allow the athlete to translate his or her physical strength into weight on the barbell in a pure weightlifting scenario.
the style should be efficient, i.e. it should work well in all forms of barbell cycling.
the style should be safe and easy to learn.
You need a solid foundation to build a strong super-structure. BASICS is the entry level at which we are wholly concerned with building that foundation perfectly, brick by brick. Everything we do here is for quality, not for time.
At INTERMEDIATE we re-visit and expand upon the foundation that has already been laid in previous events through broader exercise selection and more in-depth technical explanations. The goal is to get one step closer to mastering the barbell basics and to fundamentally change people’s approach to training by teaching them how to go through a session in order to get as much out of it as possible.
